Downstreamer issue (or not) ???

I just got back from a house wash that was referred to me by a painter (he was paying the bill). He failed to mention the house (2 story) had a dormer in an awkward spot.

Anyhoo, there was a nice breeze keeping it from getting too hot on an otherwise bright and sunny day (around 90 degrees in the shade).

When I got to the dormer, I couldn't quite reach it with the DS'er attached, but without it I had no problems (0040 tip). The problem I'm having is the DS'er seems like its pulling in air and creating a high pressure fog by the time it get up there. Is this normal? It pulls the mix great, but at that height it lost all ability to make contact with the house. The breeze was just blowing the mix all over the place.

Wind is your worst enemy doing this work.
Since the downstreamer has a tiny opening inside it restricts flow/pressure. This explains why you get more flow/pressure without it on.
As far as your misting issue is concerned - I would try a 0030, that should tighten the stream up and give you a little more height.

How many gpm's are you running?

Sometimes add an extension like a 4' or 8' wand to the gun, it helps sometimes.

I run 5.6 and 8gpm and never have a problem hitting the dormers on the roof above the 2nd floor with the 0040 or 0050 nozzle.

What size hose are you running from the trailer to the gun? How long is it? This can affect the flow.

Thank for the replies.

I'm curious if having the DS'er at the pump instead of the wand would make much difference? It would make life a little easier not having to tote around the fiver, but then again, I usually work alone and being able to keep an eye on when I'm getting low on mix is helpful.

+1000 on the 0030 tip versus the 0040. 0030 is pretty much all we use.

The 30 will give you a slight bit more distance in this case you needed, the 40 will drop your pressure and increase your draw a bit.Tit for tat,go to a local machine shop and get you a long lance cut for times like today. You can keep it on your rig for times you need it.

I run my ds at the reel. You might as well be x-jetting carrying around a bucket.
You could even put off the pump with a small whip line.

Don't have a reel or a whip, but I want to try the DS'er at the pump. Will this make much of a difference. I have a pool enclosure in the morning and I hate carrying a bucket around the pool.
