Donations Drive for Soldiers - Tampa, FL

Nichole

Ms Awesome
Sun Brite Supply is always looking for opportunities to show support for our troops. We love to send the men and women overseas packages filled with the small items that make a huge difference in their day-to-day lives.

We will have a box at our booth for items to be donated in Tampa.

The sorts of things they like to get include:

1. Any type of food that is non-perishable and can make a hot flight. Cookies, brownies, candies, nuts. Anything that will still be good after about 14-21 days of transit time.
2. Car magazines
3. Ipod ear-buds
4. Books
5. Instant coffees, creamers and sugars
6. Crossword puzzle books
7. Board games
8. Decks of cards
9. Disposable cameras
10. Black BOOT socks.
11. Cheap sunglasses.
12. Handheld games
13. Baby wipes
14. Hand sanitizer and any type of hygiene gear (soaps/shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, razors/blades, shaving cream, foot powder) nothing aerosol
15. Sunscreen lotions & Chapstick in squeeze-tubes
16. Batteries

Want to help? Please donate any amount of cash or items. We will include your name as a contributor in the next shipment overseas.

Donations can be made via paypal as well. pete@sunbritesupply.com Please put 'For the Troops' in the comments.

That would be great Kory. They are about 10 bucks a piece for each "package" we send out. We were able to get about 15 packages out last time. Each one had an assortment of goodies in it.

Careful with anything containing chocolate - or any gummy style candies. Our buddy that is there now has been making the most hilarious remarks on care packages that they receive. It's REALLLY REALLLY hot there and everything melts :(

Also, he did mention that care packages that contain canned items should also contain CAN OPENERS! They must not have many of those there :) LOL

This is a great drive Nichole! Thanks!

It really bothers me that our men and women over therfe are risking their lives and our government can't get them enough toothpaste and socks
And I heard they have to pay for some of their own uniforms WTF. My brother in law is in the Army and he has to pay for a lot of things that I was really surprised about. Even housing that he pays for on base, they have company come in and clean after and my brother in law cleaned it up nice and still was charged big bucks and you have to pay or they take it out of your pay anyway. I think if you are serving your country, there shouldnt be charges on things like uniforms etc etc

Nicole put me down for 2 boxes. I will not be in Tampa, but after just give me a call and you can collect the $$$. Way to go Sunbrite

Thanks guys!

Right on, Celeste! Got the can opener thingy covered. And I only send Oreos in the winter...lol

My buddy Trey was in a bad part of Afghanistan. Their problem was logistics. Winters and fighting was bad so they couldn't move supplies. They even ran out of plastic spoons so the the guys would have family send extras to stash for when they ran out. And Army issue socks...explains enough right there...lol

They do have to pay for a lot. What they tell you is that you'll make $xx,xxx a year for salary. What they don't tell you is that figure can include "benefits" and combat pay.

Thanks go out to Rick @ Indy Power Wash for a generous donation he made this morning. We will have a box to collect items and we will accept any donations at the Tampa RT.

I would bet heis an officer. That is just part of having a commission

No he's pretty much a grunt like the 3rd up from the bottom, I forget E something, no real rank.
I was really amazed what these everyday heros have to pay for

Housing is fairly cheap but lots of extra move out charges and some other crazy stuff they stick it to the soldiers, he does get good health care and his family really needs it but I just figure paying for uniforms is wrong

But anyway, great thing Sunbrite and Nicole are doing

Thanks Jeff. I graduated from ROTC in high school so all my buddies went into the service and all but 2-3 of them have been overseas. I get told by many of them that in the 6 month to 1 year tour they are on several guys get NOTHING from home. That really upset me. I will for sure give you a shout Monday or so. HAVE A GREAT WEEK!
