Does anyone get business right off the highway.

Just wondering if anyone has pulled into a truck lot that is off the interstate and got business right there. Or if you just set up somewhere and get business from trucks coming in off the highway. Kind of the same question I guess.

I was thinking more if you had a particular spot where you had talked and had permission from whoever owned the lot or area. I should have been more clear on the question. Not just pulling over anywhere and setting up camp. Yeah that would be a big issue if doing so.

After thinking about this for awhile my guess would be that there probably wouldnt be a whole lot of business like that. Since most O/O would probably be going to a regular truck wash since they probably want more than just a wash and all the others are probably fleet or smaller outfits that have theirs washed at their home facilities.

There is Landscaping company out here that does that in the city of Queen Creek. Whenever I go into Queen Creek I see their trucks parked with a huge billboard on the side of their box truck. They have one box truck wrapped that is always parked in the same place and 1 large semi truck wrapped on one side.

I think it would be great advertising if you get it in the right area.

Are you talking setting up a truck washing location off the side of the highway. The trick would be getting truckdrivers, the miserable people they are, to want to use you to clean their trucks. After you did a few, and got a couple of guys talking, it might work out. You would be surprised at the number of small companies that do not have a fleet washer come on their property because all the trucks are out at different times. What you could do is target an area, and get with all the fleets to have their trucks come to a centralized location for washing. I know that there are a couple of contractors that do this, and seem to have a steady revenue stream from it. Have guys come in, have their trucks washed, then just bill the office.

Whoops! haha I thought he was talking about advertising on the side of the road... should have read more thoroughly.

Yeah that is what I had in mind. I guess the trick would be finding a place where you could do this. Might have to pay a little "rent" for the spot if it worked out. Then one might have to worry about reclaim too. I suppose it would depend on the area and the land owner.
