Delvan Pump

The Cleaner

Vetran Washer 30 Years Plus
Has anyone run Oxalic Acid thru a delvan? I dont want to ruin a great pump if it cant handle it. I know it needs to be neutralized when done but is it to harsh for the pump.

I have run many gallons of love thru it but had a pump go out on me after 1 tank of OX, I thought maybe it was just a coincidence and the pump was just done? I always run fresh water and some dawn thru it when done for the day.

Nick, run the water thru it but keep the dawn out. When dawn dries it becomes glue. Raleigh Fire Dep't used dawn to lubricate the threads on hydrants a few years ago. After a house fire they spent a few days going around with an 8 foot cheater bar to loosen the caps.

I just use a few drops of dawn, sometimes I use Baking Soda. Have you run OX thru yours?

Guys, sorry for the off topic.. When you spray caustic on safety sensitive areas like restaurant patio, do you neutralize it or just rinse it? If you neutralize, what do you use? I posted a question on a restaurant patio that I had a hard time to clean and I will hit it again on Monday. I will work after midnight and the place opens early in the morning. I was planning to spray it with caustic soda or stampede (sold by Lori). I don't have a lot of experience with harsh chemicals and wanted to make sure I am doing it right.
To be back on topic, I will spray it with the Fatboy. I hope it will not hurt it.

Thanks!

Tha Stampeed is a degreaser. It won't hurt the pump. I've done it a lot with 12volts. Just rinse as usual when finished with it.

I would not spray it with a fresh mix it will be way toooooo hottt! Mix the caustic the nigh before so that it cools down, the heat will hurt the seals in the pump. Personall I downstream any caustics and then neutralize with a citric acid where needed.

Russ, The Stampede is just a liquid butyle based sodium hydroxide. He's not mixing the volcano lava like you use. :drag:

William we used to use dawn to back flush our pumps 2times a year with dawn.....Then fill tank with clean water......The old heads said it lubed everything......
