Delavan set up on your rig.

Hello, I'm just starting up my business and I'm curious how y'all have your delavan pumps set up on your rig. Is it bolted to the side of the trailer, on top of your tank or in a weatherproof box? Pictures would be helpfull if you have them. Thanks for the help, Paul

hey Paul , first things first , please take a second and fill out your signature in the user control panel, people will respond to you better that way

ok now to your question , I have mine mounted directly on the floor of the trailer both plumbed to a 225 gallon chemical tank and they feed chems to two Titan stainless hose reels with 300 feet of Goodyear 5/8 hose each , each equipped with poly trigger guns and stainless quick connects

I also find it easier to have them plumbed directly from the tank. my pump is also on the floor of the truck.

Russ, sorry about the signiture. After I posted I realized I hadn't filled it in. The goodyear hose you have is it pieced together from 100ft. lengths or 300ft. long single hose. Thanks for the reply. I have learned alot from you and others here and on different forums. Thanks again,Paul

I do not use a Delevan, but I advocate pulling out of the TOP of your tank.
I would NOT cut a hole for a bulkhead in the bottom/side of the tank.
It WILL leak Chlorine, trust me ;)
Instead, consider pulling from the TOP of the tank with a feed tube, or simply feed hose in the tank through a rubber grommet ?
Keep your pump as close to the tank as possible, maybe mount the pump upside down too.
Use at least 1/2 inch hose on the Delevans output, and 5/8 or even 3/4 is way better.

Are you talking about an electric delavan setup or a gas delavan setup? I too have a few questions about the setup and have been banging my head against the wall trying to figure out the best way to go? Pictures would be worth a thousand words. Thanks in advance for the help. Mike.

I use the 5800 i plumb from the top at first and it seemd that it worked to hard then i went strait from the tank my tank already had a whole on it to put fitting in and so forth and it seems the pump doesnt work as hard.

I have my 5800 screwed to the wall of my enclosed trailer and plumbed to a 225-gallon tank and also to my hose reel. The other day the pump fell off the wall after being there about 1-year. It seems from all the rocking around and dirt roads around here the bushings that the screws go through vibrated the pump right out of the footing bushing. I once again mounted it to the wall but this time I put a washer before I inserted the screw to the wall, this way the bushings can not pull away from the pump. I guess the next thing that will happen will be that the wood on the wall of the trailer will break away. I hope not! Hugh

show pics how you have them mounted??

We do not use the Delevan, or any other electric pumps.
But when we did, we mounted them upside down.
This way, when pump is off, excess chemical runs away from the insides of the pump.
