Delavan Fatboy

Anyone tried out the Delavan Fatboy that Bob at P-Tek is selling? Just wondered with the extra GPM how it compares to the 5800 as far as distance?

I just got it in, no I have not checked it yet for distance or pressure, gpm or anything like that but here are a few pics comparing it to the old one, you can see it is way bigger

Russ, what kind of hose do you have on your reel for the pump?

Looks like a good candidate for an upgrade with the old 5800 as a spare pump. Am I the only one that has switch issues with the 5800? Judging by the wire size on the Fatboy it will require an even higher amp switch. Anyone come up with a good switch for these yet? I didn't see an amperage rating on Bob's site.

Russ, are the threaded hose fittings you use on your reel anything special as far as resisting SH?

Thanks for the photos.

I have not put a meter for PSI or GPM on it, but it flows almost as well as the bandit does, if you have ever used a bandit to compare it to. I did horizontal distance and got about 45-50 feet, and easily 5-6 GPM at the end of 200'.

Our roller pump on the Bandit just crapped out again today, so we're hooking the fatboy back up tonight. We've got about 30,000sqft of roof this week to clean, so Ill let everyone know how it holds up.

Russ, what did you use to hook it up? 10g or 12g wire? What size inline fuse? What size battery? We were blowing fuses last time, and cant figure out why. Bob and the Delavan book says use 12g, so thats what we're using. Any ideas?

Also, Watch it while you're using it. It has the relay switch on it and if used for to long, it will fuse to itself, stop switching itself off on demand and it will blow your hose. Buy a couple of extra relay switches and have them on hand.

17 amps max

10 guage wire and a 40 amp fuse

the threaded hose fittings are all I have ever used and have had 0 problems

Scott, Your relay should not get that hot if is matched properly to the motor. Somethings not quite right. I have lots of aircraft electronics experience if you need some wiring suggestions. Call anytime.

10 guage wire and a 60 amp fuse

Russ, Did it call for a 60 amp fuse or is that what you put on. If you fuse it too high you can burn out the motor before the fuse blows if you have a problem.

Just my .02

The wire specifically says 30 amp fuse.

Mine has 30 amp fuse with no problem....Bob is making a video on installation to post on PT and his website......Hey Scott I sent you a lead in Katy today

I just blew 2 relays testing it.....Cant figure out why thats happening. When the ball valve is fully open, it runs fine, but when I close the ball valve 3/4 of the way, the relay switch makes a clicking sound and then goes out.

During testing we are adjusting the pressure screw to try and stop the fluctuation and the clicking.

Any ideas??.

Hey Gene, How you been?

Have you had any issues with the relays? How do you have yours set up??

Thanks for the lead, we're going to quote her tomorrow.

Hey Kemp, I dont have your email and couldnt find it. Here's the pictures.

Scott, A picture is worth a thousand words. This is what I was trying to explain to you over the phone. Let me know how it works out.
