Deck Washing Sinking Springs

Here is a Sinking Springs Deck Washing I performed this week. It was a 2 year old deck with no coating on it. I pH balanced it and applied Armstrong-Clark Cedar Semi Transparent.

I did not get the before photos because my Digi is in the shop. I am stuck with the cell, so sorry for the TAPS,ghost like spectres.

This might freak you out as well as others...I used my 4 inch Wooster(Varnish and sealer brush)

I do plan on getting a continuous pump and all the gadgets to apply with next year.

Jimmy, what Sodium Percarbonate cleaner are you using for your decks?

I actually used H80 and some of Toms ADD from ACR. It was a semi solid Latex coating.

What do you use?

Well, I haven't done a lot of decks. I went and bought 100% sodium percarbonate, but I haven't gotten any replies on my thread about what dilution to use. I figure in most of these deck cleaning products, your active ingredient is SP, so why not mix straight SP/water and a few squirts of some mild soap. Should work pretty well, but I guess I will have to keep mixing different ratios until I get the best results. Do you have any ideas?

I like to know how things work just for my end of things. This is my first year doing decks and have completed a pretty good amount. I would never try and Frankenstein a chemical to use on a customers house. Thegood thing about using a chem from a distributor is that they are responsible if something goes wrong if you use it as they direct you. If you go and home mix your chem and a worker is stupid with it. It will be on your insurance. If someone gets burned from using a distributors chem and it is used as directed, they are responsible.

Besides, if EPA comes around and asks what your using and you do not have safety sheets on it, guess what...?

The product I use is sodium Hydroxide based with glycol ether. How does it all work? I have not studied it up because I have been busy applying these chems and watching the coatings melt off within 5 minutes. Even the tough latex jobs are not that worrisome.
