curb cleaning

Has anybody here built a tool just for cleaning curbs? I am going to start on one tomorrow. I would like any input on a design. I will post pics when finished if anybody is interested.

Carey,
Could you give me a call sometime? I have some ideas. I know I am a rookie but I do have a background in Machining, tool design, and theory that might be of some use to you...Thank you.

Why would you need anything special to do curbs? I run 8gpm @3200psi and i use my surface cleaner on the top flat portion of the curb, then i run the surface cleaner on an angle for the face side...done..

We tried
The machine will try to blow away from the curb

We run 8.5 gpm

Did you try to weight it down? Maybe something heavy/dense like a couple short sections of railroad track and or lead. I think a balance could be achieved where it might actually just float or at least be controlable.
I have seen similiar logic applied to abrasive water jet machines(uses abrasive media and high pressure to cut steel) and other high pressure designs.
I have worked with some awesome research and development people over the years and have found that the old saying "where there is a will...there is a way" is true.

I will give you a call tomorrow Thomas. about noon?

After 4 pm tommorrow would be better for me. Is that workable for you?

Very true. The other day i had a line striper that wanted me to destripe a parking lot at a retirement home. no prob right? well they said that the cars cant be moved they have to stay while i am doing this. lol I told the line striper that there was no way i could do this without messing up the cars. then it hit me...i built what looks like a mini surface cleaner with a turbo nozzle. It took me 50 minutes to do a job that i had bid for 4 hours.

Talk about American ingeniuity in action:cool: I like that idea for sure.

Talk to you tommorrow after 4.

I normally just use a rotary nozzle on curbs. It cuts down on the turbulance factor especially around alot of dirt, grass and mulch. Never had a problem doing them that way and they come out great.

Let us know how the invetion works out Thomas...

I normally always get dirt stuff on my legs but it rinses right off. I don't think a day goes by that I don't get nasty. Thats why I can never understand guys who where kaki pants and nice shirts to pw with. I go through tons of shirts each yr and at least 7 pairs of shorts(mainly bathing suit bottoms. the sh doesn't eat through them). I don't even like going into a store to get milk on the way home after I'm done working.
Even on the front page of my web site you can see me wearing bathing suit bottoms and it was winter. I was however wearing a sweat shirt and work boots that day. It was a bit cold. low 50's for us is cool in the winter.

The SH doesn't eat through swiming trunks? Hey I might have to change over to a new uniform. We wear white dickie pants or shorts now and they get ate to hel! in no time. Shirts I fly through also, just Tee shirts but it don't take long for holes in them. Those stair cases I had to do were about 12 to 15 stairs and the concrete up the sides was real nasty also, my bald/blonde head was even covered with dirt and stuff.

LOL... I hear ya. If ya gonna wear swim suit bottoms make sure they are 100% nylon. I've made that mistake a couple times.
