Our Cat Pump rep visited us this past week and mentined that Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana have the most corrosive water of all the states in the United States. Manifolds sent in for warranty evaluation from those states have a high occurrence of damage due to wash out from the inherently corrosive water. Manifolds are not warrantied for damage due to wash out from corrosive water or chemical run through the pump.
The swimming pool industry uses the Langelier index to discern whether supply water is corrosive or prone to scale build-up.
Protect your equipment by knowing the aggressive nature of your supply water.
The sites pasted below help you figure out what kind of water you have. To get your input numbers, take a sample of your water to a local residential pool supply store and have them test your water for no charge. With this information, you can adjust your water to prevent scaling or erosion of your expensive equipment.

I would like to know if you have used Scaltrol filters if you have hard water. Do you feel like they helped? Was it worth the money?
