Copper/Zinc strips

Does anybody know if installing these at the ridge top of a roof will prevent streaking? I know the roof has to be cleaned first. But could they work to prevent it from re-occuring?

I googled it and saw alot of information saying they do work.
I saw alot of different p.w.'ing companies all with the same information saying they dont work.

Can anyone else shed some light on this subject?

I was asked about it recently by a potential customer. She found it online.

Thanks

There were pictures posted a while back of some zinc or copper strips where moss was growing on them but the roof still had the stains. Not a good idea in my opinion.

One thing that happens is that the roof decking material sags in between the rafters and then the copper or zinc runs down the roof in valleys created between the rafters and then the algae grows back on the ridges formed by the rafters. Waste of money but yes it does work for a short time. After 5 years or so they seem to quit working all together.

The info you found that the do work is probably from the manufacturers or people that beleived the hype. They dont work except for the foot or two right below it. And I have hundreds of pictures to prove it.
