Company for sale

Notice the for sale date. September 9, 2001.

This business is still listed, but when I checked it's not for sale.

Interesting though.

I used to reference that ad (a couple of years ago). But the (new) owner called me and was upset that his company was still for sale (ad being listed). So I took it off.

How's things been going. It's been a little quiet around here.

Took the week off to train a couple of students and move our office to a larger location (across the hall). Also put down some new laminate floors and new wall paper.

It's fun training these new guys and helping them get going. They come here excited but scared, and they leave tired and confident. There's no replacement for actually cleaning a hood from start to finish over and over till you got it. Then as their final exam, they clean a grease exhaust system from start to finish. Beats the heck out of sitting around and talking about the theory of how to do it, when you can be up to your elbows doing it.

The new NFPA 96 2004 edition is out and I got my hands on a copy and read it from cover to cover. Lots of very interesting changes.

Picked up the Morton's Steakhouse as well as the Outback in our area along with a nursing home and a mexican restaurant. So, overall Sept has been very good.

I've got a full schedule in Oct, Nov, Dec, Jan & Feb, so I'll pretty much be cleaning 2 every night for quite awhile.

Sales at our supply store have significantly picked up. It's amazing how many people are stopping by and looking at things.

It's weird that the chinese can build something ship it to America, I can buy it and ship it to England cheaper than the person in England can buy it locally. Then you add in the stuff from Israel that I shipped to Colorado and I feel like a regular import/export company.

Sorry to hear about the Baja Fresh. That was kind of a flaky lead, but the other stuff should be pretty solid and should generate a significant amount of income for you. I like those monthly cleanings.

Been tossing around the idea of some sort of Invitational Hood Cleaning Competition. Have a golf game, and then some sort of clean off, then prizes for different categories. Haven't quite worked out the logistics, but something that's rolling around the ol' noodle. Trying to think of a way to get a country wide representation of hood cleaners all at the same place to work together in some fashion to take this industry to the next level. Thought that having some sort of competition would give different groups a reason to attend. Alot more interesting than just attending some convention and listen to the same people stand up and say the same things over and over.

Bulletin board is slowly growing. Getting a couple of new members every week it seems. Eventually we'll have enough interested parties to get some conversations off of the ground. It takes a lot of work to make it a place of interest.

Sort of a semi-transparent that I created for my sig file. You're more than welcome to copy it and add it to your sig file as well.
