This year we have added snow removal to our services.

Today is 80º. Now all I need is some snow...

Let it snow let it snow let it snow...

Nice! Now you need some flashing lights and a cool office! :)

Yeah I know, without the office I won't be able to land any accounts. I look way to unprofessional operating from home.

I got some flashing lights just haven't put them on.

I have flashing lights. Does that make me a professional? I dont have an office though. I spend that money on vacations.

Warren Buffett still works out of the home he bought for $31K in 1958. He also never buys new cars. He only buys salvage cars with hail damage and only after his daughter says she's too embarrassed to ride in his old car. But what does he know?

That is one sharp looking sett-up Matt. Good luck with it. :thumbup2: How you liking the new truck?

New Truck is doing great. I'll let you know how it holds up plowing snow this year.

Thanks everyone for your compliments.

I run ford for the straight axle in the front. What made you decide on a chevy, and also why the V-blade over a straight? Do you have alot of parking lots.

The duramax with the Allison transmission was the best all around package in my opinion. I also personally like the IFS, the ride quality is great. As far as adding the V-Boss I don't think it's recommended for any 3/4 1-Ton trucks with the diesel, because the weight of the motor & transmission. The 2011 chevy silverado hd is an exception to this because of the increased fgvwr went from 4800lb to 6000lb. There are a ton of guys on the snow forums that have done it with my same truck with Timbrens without problems. My theory is if I have problems with something replace it with something more heavy duty and problem solved.

The reason I choose the V-Plow over the straight blade was because your ability to be able to scoop and move snow faster. It's great on the parking lots where you have a 2-3 hour minimum and you can get the job done in 1.5.

I pulled the trigger on snow removal a little late in the year so we don't have a lot of contracts but I told myself this is the year to learn anyways. We are hired as a sub-contractor for a large shopping mall here in CO with a group of people that I will be working with to help learn the snow removal routine.

I don't know squat about snow or snow blades....but is that a v-blade? it looks straight to me, does it have a hinge in the middle or something?

Check this video out.

Nice setup you should be able to pay off that truck quickly. I hope that is the new version with the trip edge. I had a Boss plow a few yeas back and if you have a lip or a sewer cover ...basically anything that sticks up over 1/2" it has a tendency to catch. With the hydraulic ram it doesn't bounce up as fast as the Western and other chain lift plows. Long story short wear your seatbelt because it can stop your truck.

The V plow will use up a lot of power too so if you haven't done so already add a second battery and upgrade your alternator to a 100amp minimum.

The V Plow is not your friend when it comes to hitting objects while driving, especially if it's right where it V's. That is one negative about the V Plow vs going with the straight blade. I've been told to wear my seat belt.

I have two batteries because it's a diesel, that's a very good question about the alternator I wonder if should upgrade it.

Do you still plow snow Paul?

You should be OK if the truck was purchased with the dealer "plow package" it will have the alternator upgrade already. Where you run into problems is if you have a lot of drives right next to each other or a parking lot where you have to move or lift the plow a lot. If you don't have any drive time between it will suck the bat down quickly. Definitely invest in a good booster pack and quality jumper cables just in case.

Yes I have 3 trucks and do a little over 60 driveways. My third truck I sub out to my brother he is the largest plow contractor in the state. Last i remember he had over 50 wheel loaders and like 40+ plow/salt trucks. I know he has been adding more this year already. I started riding along with him when I was like 10 and finally got to drop the shovel for doing walks and started driving a plow truck at 16. 26 years later I still love doing it just not for the 24+ hours straight....
