Karina you seem to be a smart businessperson so please answer this question for me why would anyone want to pay you $700 for USED equipment when they can buy the same thing new for a few bucks more? Doubt me just read the ad below in BOLD.

I am going to be very frank with you, your prices are out of line, lower them to what USED equipment sells for and perhaps you might sell stuff.

Now another question, why did you not sell the whole business with a business broker, or is there not enough to sell?
-----------------------------------
Surface Cleaners: 24" Steel Eagle Surface Cleaner $795.00... This is for a brand new one, same as your asking $95.00 less for a used one, get my point?

Thanks for your input Jon. I have seen local vendors charge a lot more than $795.00 for that surface cleaner and that is what I based our pricing on. The $795.00 is a great deal and if someone has the extra money than I can't argue that they should go with the new one. When considering pressue washing equipment if it is in top condition why shouldn't it sell for what it is worth? This isn't the flea market. This is high powered industrial equipment that carries value. Just my opinion though :)

To answer your question on selling, I sold a large portion of the business to someone local. We had a great deal of equipment that I sold along with my accounts. We had business in Washington, Oregon, Arizona Utah and California, so what I have left isn't near what I started with.

Maybe a broker would have been able to assist me in selling everything or even getting more than I did, but I didn't even think of it at the time. Wish I had stumbled upon this forum a long time ago. Locally, I have found that pressure washers and vendors like to keep their secrects and nobody shared with me this great forum to share ideas. So thanks for the input but it comes too late now. We learn from our mistakes and maybe someone will learn from ours. Share, share, share! It makes a better business for everyone!

Thank you again,
Karina

Karina I am shocked no one in the business ever told you about all the bbs's out there.

This is only one of many.

As for selling equipment I still feel your asking way to much for some of it. Don't get me wrong I am sure someone will pay the price.

Used hose reel, $75 bucks, maybe $100 but that is tops.
Used surface cleaner, $300 or so tops and they sell for that on Ebay.

Wands, $5 to $10 with gun.

The list goes on and on.

I wonder what your selling R2 50 hose for, I buy it new for $75 to $85.

Anyway yes had you thought of a broker you probably could have sold the whole thing to one or two people but that is past now.

Cleaner Times' Magazine is the place to run an ad also.

Other boards too.

Jon

Karina,

Don't lose too much sleep over not using the broker...........while they might have engineered a better deal, they also would have pocketed a chunk of it too..............so, in the end, you could be better off.

I also think the prices are a bit high for an educated buyer...........if you're willing to sit on that stuff for a while, you might find someone willing to pay.

Best of luck!

put an ad here too.............. www.epowerwash.com

Thank you for the encourgement. I must say, Jon, I am a bit confused on the $300.00 surface cleaner price. A swivel replacement cost nearly that and a rebuild kit about $150.00 so why would someone sell for only $300.00? I paid over 1300.00 for the 30" surface cleaner and am asking $800.00. I didn't think that was THAT bad.

As to anything I have I want everyone to know that I am open to reasonable offers. I base my price on what I purchased these items for and compare to what other local vendors are charging for the same.

Thank you again for the input though. All information is helpful to me.

Karina

Karina I paid under $50 for a rebuild kit, in fact quite a lot less then that.

Never had a bad swivel go bad.

Spinner bar for appox. $80 or so, can look up exact price if you want.

You say you paid $1300 for a new one, OMG you paid full retail price, don't you shop around for prices?

I could have bought that for what your asking for your used one for.

Example one person here bought a almost new 28" Whisper Washer Big Guy for $500 or was it $550? so that should give you some idea of pricing. It is not what you paid, it is what others can buy the samething for.

Something is not right with things here, I heard your a dealer and saw proof of that too so are you playing games with different people here?

You need to understand that we as a group talk back and forth not just here but by Email too.

Make a deal with you, you need any equipment tell me what you want, I will buy it wholesale and sell it to you for retail since you so willing to pay top dollar for things.

Did you pay sticker price for your vehicles? I doubt it, you bargained and went back and forth for the best price, right?

Any good business person does that, I do, others I know do and if you say you don't well I'll keep that remark to myself.

But if you want to part with your things you need to do some research and see what new/used sells for.

Check out Ebay, check out others on the boards who are selling things then adjust your prices.

Now I personally could care less but don't screw people trying to get into the business who don't know any better, those are the ones some of us look out for.

Get mad at me but I would suggest those that are interested in buying from her shop around and if you can buy new for what she wants a used item for go for the new one. Use common sense before buying.

Jon,
Never had a swivel go out? How often do you use your equipment? Come on man go out and get some business and lay off me!! :D

Anyway, $1300.00 was full retail price but I have NOT always been a dealer you see. I just started that this year. And thanks for pointing out that $1300.00 IS what my STEEL EAGLE surface cleaner retails for.

Sure you can get a Whisper Big Boy for $700- new but the quality is no where near that of the Steel Eagle. I prefer to buy Cadillac over a Kia, how about you?

By the way where did you get your rebuilt kit for the Steel Eagle swivel for $50 bucks? I have a local vendor who might need that in the future and I would love to pass the information on.

Please don't imply that I am trying to SCREW anybody. I feel that is BAD manners and a undermining business practice. I happen to be a VERY honest person and pride myself on wanting to help people NOT take advantage of them. You make my pricing out to sound like it is SO EXTREMELY a rip off that everybody should stay as far away from me as possible. I can't be THAT bad! Plus you keep comparing my pricing to items that are not even the same brand!

I could probably go lower on my pricing, especially if someone is buying multiple items. My pricing is ASKING price and I feel that they are HONEST prices. Take Jon's advise and shop around. That is the right thing to do, but don't avoid me just because Jon has implied I am a rip off artist. Remember the BRAND, think about quality, consider how often you will be using your equipment and if you are going to buy used consider one more thing about my equipment... I have a full time mechanic that constantly maintains my equipment, keeping it as close to brand new as possible. In many cases new parts have recently been put on justifying value. Why not ask me more particulars about any one item you might be interested in? You may find that I have a good deal afterall....

Thank you.

Karina, I certainly feel bad that your selling all your stuff. I don’t think Jon intended that you take it that way. I just think he is use to getting screaming deals on used stuff. This BBS brings a lot of quality stuff cheap. I bought a landa skid for 500.00 and a trailer mounted unit for 1800.00.

I hope you get every penny..

Where in the above quote do you show your honest about being a DEALER?

Had you not been called out you probably would not have finally admitted to it.

As for where I buy my equipment and supplies at such a good price, from honest dealers who offer discounts, not retail prices.

Only newbie's would pay full price because they don't know any better, yet.

As for working my equipment I do, much harder then you would believe and as for saying Whisper Washer is like a Kia, get real lady, they cost more then my Steel Eagle did and I only hope the steel Eagle holds up as long with the abuse I give them.

As for not breaking a swivel, why do you find that hard to believe? Spinner bars sure, swivels NOPE.

Don't expect any more replies from me Ms. full retail priced dealer.

Wow I thought the Landa cold water units and several of the machines looked reasonably priced. I knew she was a dealer from the variety of equipment but she is selling that stuff cheap. As far as looking out for each other is taking advantage of someone going out of business helping. Those are good prices. Karina if you can get me some photos I mighty buy the whole lot. Except for the trucks. I need multiple pictures of each unit sent to tomdurbin@hotandmighty.com

whoops!got me too
