Cleaning Tractor Trailers

Hello Everyone,
I had a call yesterday to clean 2 tractor trailers that were very filthy with road grime. They had a barrel of acid but do not remember what kind it is as the label has fallen off. I have not washed trucks before. I have a Hot water, 3000psi, 5.6gpm Hotsy unit. I have a X-Jet M5, FloJet sprayer but no vehicle brushes. Please tell me what I am in for and what to expect. The rigs are polished tanks (when clean) and do not know if they are aluminum or other. Please tell me what the steps are, what you would do and what to expect. Thanks.

Seeing as neither of you know what their acid is I would recommend getting your own. You would not want to use a mystery product and it be muratic acid and you mess up their trucks and be responsible for it. When I face trucks that are not cleaned often and the fleet is small (I'd say probably 20 or less) I will 2 step with hot water and scrub as well. Acid, chemical, scrub rinse. It takes a little longer but it will sparkle afterwards. I did not notice if you have already given them a price or not.
2 stepping alone works well, as does scrubbing but with just 2 trucks I would think that they will be paying exceptional attention to them.

if he did'nt wash them by now ,somebody else probably did. something fishy.
 
I never did wash the Two trucks and trailers. The job was an hour away and since I had never done tractor trailers, I did not want to experiment. There was no water supply and I would have to haul water. More things that would raise the price. I told them to take the tractor trailers to the local Truck Stop because for me to go out there and have to find another location to get more water and pita factor it would be cheaper for them. Right now I have no plans for cleaning tractor trailers but if I did I would look into the 2-stepping system. Thanks for all your help.
