Cleaning church steeples from a harness....

Met this guy last week and went by his job today after cleaned this church steeple.
What makes this guy unique is that he cleans it from tying off the steeple....he does not wash from the ladder.
This past week I was asked to clean a large steeple......I am planning on networking with this guy.
He has not got the Equiptment I have BUT I do not have the guts he has.....could be a good match!!

I have cleaned steeples from a manlift and bucket truck, when up and close to them and seeing rotted boards and very rusty metal, I am glad I was in a basket/bucket.

Strange thing for some reason I've noticed on many steeples I've cleaned is they often have lichens on them and you have to be pretty close to knock them off. I guess it because they get so neglected.

Nice job!! Did you use a lift?

Yeah that's a great job Pat that guy way up in the air as some bull balls lol.I am not sure I could breath that high up much less wash something.I wonder if he test them some how before he ropes off to them I have seen some steeples blow off the church when a heavy wind storm comes around.

I did use a lift. I think reason I win the bid was I used a 45 foot lift and everyone else was going to use a much bigger lift (cost more). The person I was dealing with really didn't think I could do it with the smaller lift. LOL after I got up there and saw the lichens I was doubtful myself! Had to use a 8 foot wand with a ladder saver nozzle to hit the lichens hard enough.

I can't tell how this works. You mentioned the meg nozzle to me about a month ago. Which reaches higher, 0030 or 0040?

Depends on your gpm of your machine. However the larger the orifice the less your pressure. ...but you have larger water droplets so it kind of varies with the need of each situation. I do have a branded Ladder Saver nozzle and not sure what orifice it is but sometimes it outperforms my regular 0 tips. It just depends on the situation. I have 6 jrods each with 4 standard fans patterns in 8.5, 20, 30, 40, 50 gpm nozzles and one with 5 degree fan in 8.5, 20, 30 and 50 gpm nozzles for special uses. The nozzels are the #1 tool of our trade!

I'm running 4 gpm. How about you?

8 gpm. Need to let someone with 4gpm answer you.

That is a very good point because the difference in gpm's will affect the height achieved, the draw % when downstreaming, what nozzles you should use, how fast you can rinse, etc......
