The winter weather you get in Texas makes me envious at times. We had snow last night for a white Christmas and another batch on the way tomorrow. My daughter loved the snow.

I think this might be what he's talking about.....

they also called sun perch or blue gill I'll catch them while I'm crappie fishing. You fry the whole or you can fillet them but not much meat.

Correct...I grew up calling them all "brim" there so many different ones. Except Crappie, they are a so good they get they get there own name. Crappie is probably my favorite freshwater fish to catch AND eat. Man they are a lot of fun. Especially the slab size ones.
