Chlorine on Asphalt Roofs

Asphalt Roofs

Has anyone clean asphalt roofs using chlorine? I have a couple of questions.

When buying the chlorine, is there a particular thing to look for?

What is a proper mix ratio (chlorine to water)?

Thanks

Roof Cleaning

Sure you can use chlorine on those roofs. Try 50/50 chl. and water. Rinse and cover plants before and after. Chem will kill plants. Other safer products are available. Try roof-a-cide. Jim

Tim,

CHlorine is the most effective inexpensive way to go. You can mix as low as 4:1 you just have a bit longer dwell time. The more dillusion the safer it is for you and the plants around you. Like Jim said you must cover bushes and water in areas around gutter stream. I offer free gutter cleaning with chem- cleans on roofs. It always helps sell and you have to have them clean anyway to do the job. Always wear a respirater approved for chlorine! I do alot of roof work so if I can help you in any way. E-mail me...Jeremy-

I Live in Missouri also and cant find liquid chlorine any where, I have found the 99% powder type but I have no clue how to mix it to get a 10% Mix. House hold bleach is around 6% to 8% chlorien it would save me money to mix my own but I want to make sure I dont have to strong of a mix. If any one knows let me know.

When I Lived in Florida and helped out a friend in pressure cleaning he used the liquid type and I just cant Find it here in Columbia Mo. Called every pool place in town no one has it.

Bob they dont have it at the local wal-mart, but Im trying to avoid paying $1.50 per gallon thats why Im trying to find liquid chloine or find the right mix with the powder type. But thanks for the info.

they have it at wal mart but it is 2-3 times the price of pool store($.80/gal vs. $2/gal), pool store chlorine is fresher too. be careful though...it is very harmful to your health and your surroundings.

I'm wondering if it doesn't have to do with State regulations...I had someone from another state, don't recall which, call me about where to find liquid Chlorine. They couldn't find it at any pool places, etc. There may be some law in MO regarding the public sale of liquid Chlorine.

Have you checked at any chemical supply houses?

The guys at the pool place should be able to help you with the mix ratio of the powder to get the strength you want.

If not, get the specs on the powder, and I'm sure we can help you here.
