if i wanted to buy sodium hydroxide to make my own 1st step in 2 step washing instead of HF acid
what problems would i run into?

I never used sodium hydroxide as a first step but think I read you talkin about it somewhere else, maybe not. When you ask "what trouble would I run into", do you mean in mixing it, or using it?

I used to buy it from a company in Ohio and mix it myself, and will have to try to remember the name of that company. They were good to deal with. Sodium Hydroxide's pretty damn hot in its own right. You ever think about hydrachloric acid as a first step?

My kid's a chemist and she just raises her eyebrows when she sees my soaps . You already know how I operate so if you wanna call me feel free.

Your second step would be to neutralize with citrolic acid to restore the PH balance.

Beth

p.s. SKIPPING this second step can cause any finishes you then apply to fail prematurely, which makes clients very unhappy......

Beth I know you didn't say you did, but do you or have you ever used sodium hydroxide as a first step in a 2 step process. I've never heard of it being done and am just curious that's all.
