Chemicals too expensive for import

Hello everyone. I am new and getting started down in Puerto Rico. I have contacted several soap guys off the board but me problem is that the freight on the soaps makes them very costly. I am wondering if you all can share your real world recipes, or other commercial available chemicals that will help me do a good job. There are some janitorial supply places and chemical companies on Island that have decent prices considering the chemicals are already here and the prices include the freight already.

I just want to be the best on the Island and want to shine as a professional for the sake of our industry. Thank you all!!!:)

Depending on what recipe you are talking about, it might be difficult for somebody to part with. When you say soap, what kind are you talking about?
If you are looking for a house wash recipe those are pretty straightforward and considered common knowledge so they can be shared. If you are talking about truck washing soap then that is pretty tight.
A truck soap recipe would have to be bought.

Heres the deal, I wil do mostly all flat work EVEN MY ROOFS HERE ARE FLAT CONRETE!!!!! Lots and lots of mold and mildew ( It's the tropics). I will be targetting mainly commercial accounts including greasy drive thrus. Would like some type of cirtruc cleaner. This is a concrete jungle down here everything painted with crappy paint. So who's got recipies? and what kind of fees for formulas?

You would need to get a hold of wholsale chem suppliers and see what you can buy in the raw. There are a variety of "surfactants" that can be used, plus you need to see what kind and what concentration of raw chems are available to you. You can email me if you would like.

Hello Everyone!!!!

I found some goodies and now I need help on mixing my potions. please help!!

Here is what i found available locally:

Oxalic Acid
Sodium Hypochlorite
Sodium Hydroxide
Sodium Tripolyphosphate
Trisodium Phosphate

I need some recipies, I will use M5 Xjet and Hand Pump sprayers,

I will being flatwork concrete, house & storefront washes (painted concrete)
I want to work my way into hoods after I get the proper training.

I would love to purchase readymade detergents from Sun Brite, Steve Rowlette and others however the shipping makes this cost prohibitive for me. I know there a bunch of you who mix your own chemicals, I need help please there is no one on the Island who knows anything about the pressure washing business. This is my largest hurdle right now.

Thank you.

G'day J
you can clean most things with Sodium Hypochlorite - it kills living things, like mould, and it is also corrosive so will clean concrete. You should add detergent to this to help it spread out/penetrate the dirt/mould etc and to help wash the mess away. Cheap dishwashing/laundary liquid works (check out the cleaning suppliers to restaraunt/hotel trade for bulk supplies).
The amount used will depend upon concentration and how dirty/mouldy the surface is.
WARNING: sodium hypochlorite is dangerous - don't get it on your skin, in your eyes etc, and don't breath fumes. If you get any on you wash it off with lots of water.

Spray down wind, better still - don'y spray if windy.
Rinse all equipment with lots of water.

Don't be scared of using sodium hypochlorite, I use it for most jobs - just be careful.

John

thanks for the pointers Russ...Looking Forward to maybe getting to your roundtable!!!

Russ I still have my skirt...I'm a closet flat work guy, I will be calling on a shopping center on Tuesday. Someone went crazy with a pressure washer on the pavers....they even wrote their name.
