chemical thru a comet pump ?

Major Question.. If I take my little 2750psi@2.5 gpm and run a hose from myy 55 gallon 15% sodium hypochlorite tank into the inlet of the pump and then use it just for shooting chemical ... How long will the pump last.. ..the reason I donty want to siphon is because I want to apply it full strength...

I don't really know how long it will last. If you flush it with clear water after each use, it will help it last. I guess it's on you to experiment and report back, whadda ya think?

That would make one heck of a chem pump. Let us know the results. HAve fun.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to buy a 2.8 gallon shurflow pump that's designed for this instead? I don't know how much they cost but I'm sure it's less than your power washer. What your proposing will kill your machine and I wouldn't be wild about having pool chlorine under pressure flying all over the place.

John,

If it works OK for that application, would you then take it a step further and use s/h for your kitchen exhaust systems through the pump? We use a shurflo, but if high pressure application is wanted then there is a way. Check with Dave Olson - I remember how he injects his h/p hoses with hot s/h by means of a diaphram pump, then attaches and shoots full strength without running thru pump. All you would need to know is the correct amount of chem in hoses. I havn't tried this, but it sounds logical to me.
