Ceta convention in Mississippi

Well Ron,
THey may have had a convention, or could be having a convention, but most of us are not eligible to attend. They do not let the people that use the equipment come. It isonly for distributors and manufacturers. No doubt that it is a better convention than the PWNA conventions, as far as displays go.

Ron there is a way in, just ask someone who you are on very good terms with if he/she will add your name to the list as a rep for his/her company.

Scott is 100% right, you see, hear and learn more at CETA conventions but then again I do believe I mentioned once to PWNA why not hold a joint convention so all pressure washers can see it all under one roof at one time. (Will never happen, like GM, Ford, Chrysler showing each other their new proto type cars, trade secrets).

Here you are Ron,

CETA "long post"

Ron,

The reason that I have been absent from the BBS is that I was attending the CETA show. I just returned about 1 1/2 hours ago. The Cleaning Equipment Trade Association is made up of Manufacturers, Suppliers and Distributors. About 10 years ago, under heavy protest from some of the Distributors, CETA invited end users of pressure washing related equipment to attend the exhibits. The result was horrendous. Many people got their feelings hurt as a result of being made to feel unwelcome by some of the distributors. Within 3 weeks of this the PWNA was formed to help solve this problem. It appears that the major concern of many of the distributors was that the manufacturers would start selling directly to the end users thereby eliminating them from the business loop. This is a concern that still exists today. The president and the treasurer of the PWNA paid their own expenses to fly to this meeting for the purpose of meeting with some of the CETA board in an effort to set up a joint meeting. I have no idea how this turned out. I am sure that if their efforts are successful an announcement will be forthcoming.

The training sessions at the CETA show would be of no value to a contract cleaner. These sessions are designed to help distributors of cleaning equipment. They basically address issues that would only relate to a retail sales store for pressure washing equipment. These shows are very expensive to attend. The approximate cost for me to attend this meeting including airfare, hotel, meals and show fees will exceed $ 2000.00. Some of the things that I try to address are pricing issues, quality issues and new designs. Once again this year I met with factory reps. from Briggs to address their starter solenoid problems, Beckett Burners to discuss the 12 volt burner problems, Wayne Home Equipment to discuss their burners, General Pump to discuss new things available and many more manufacturers. If you think that any of the people on the board would be interested I will try to share the content of these discussions with everyone.

Take Care
Larry

I have attended the CETA convention in the past. I came in as a Distributor and as long as I maintained that image I got alot out of the convention. It was a good opportunity to see new equipment, ask the questions directly from the manufacturers, and establish good relationships. Some of them I still deal with. It was a great forum for seeing new stuff. Other than that it didn't serve much of a purpose for the contractor.

For once I got to see EVERYONE that sells equipment to the contract cleaner. PWNA hardly has much for exhibitors, so it was worth the expense. You would be surprised how much stuff is really out there that you hardly hear anything about. When I was still a PWNA member, I went to the PWNA conference in Dallas a few years ago, and they had it in the same city as CETA. That way I was able to go to both. If memory serves, the intent was to try and convince more distributors to go straight from CETA to the PWNA without having to travel. Great idea, but CETA was very unhappy about it. That was the last time PWNA had their conference at the same time and place as CETA.
