Cat Pumps

Why are Cat pumps so much more expensive then other pumps??

Are they considered the best when it comes to pumps??

Most magazines I get that sell powerwashing items they will give you the price of just about any type of pump except one, the "Cat Pump". You have to call them to get a price for the Cats.

The way these pumps are marketed they seem to be way above the rest. There also at least twice the price if not more then a comparable pump and they sell like crazy. So why is this so?? The only thing that I can conclude is there built much better then most pumps with better parts etc...........so they must be the best.

Wiz and others,
What are your thoughts on this??

Cat pumps are made in Japan. Their reputation is a good one. But, they are not in my opinion worth the difference in price. A good old General TS2021 is in my opinion just as good as a Cat 57. A General Pump is easier to work on and the parts are lower priced than the Cat parts. As for the Quality of the parts, I see no difference in materials or workmanship. The General Pump will last just as long as a Cat Pump. This is of coarse my opinion. I would sell either one. A valve kit for a General will run you about $50 for 6 valves and O-rings. A valve kit for a Cat will run about $95 for 3 valves and 3 orings and the pump takes 6 valves.

You do the math and figure out what you would rather pay for when your machine is down and you have 4 or 5 big accounts that will pay you in 30 days after you do the job. If you are rich and don't care about operating cost by all means get the Cat-alack instead of the General-motors
