Does anyone here clean Carpets? I have 3 dogs, and seem to need to clean the carpets every couple of months and that expense is adding up! Just wondering what chemicals you use to clean pets stains, and to get the carpets cleaned properly.

Ive rented the machines, but obviously the store bought soap and machine are not very effective.

Buy Tile!! Good Luck

Dog hair is the worst! Do you have an attachment on your vacuum to help with the hair? That helps a ton because it won't come up with the vac or carpet extractor.

We use an attachment in cars... sometimes even a brush (doubt you wanna brush!) I'd have a professional come in and do it. They have the extractors at Ace Hardware and True Value but they don't compare to commercial extractors. Plus a guy that does it professionally will have the cleaners. I know we use Express Lane rinse and some good stain remover... I'll ask my guy what it is...

the answere is so simple. Pressure wash the carpet then use a shop vac to suck up the water. LOL

Greetings:

Wow you have a multi step problem, firts is the stain, the correct way to remove urine stains is to apply a commercial urine stain remover, we use a product from Pros Choice, since we clean commercial carpet only I have superior results with this product, but it is time intensive you need to steam clean the stained area first, then apply this product and let it sit for 5-8 hours, then you need to steam extract the area again. If you have any carpet cleaners in your area that use a tool called ROTO VAC, and use steam then you will have great results but they are hard to find. The object is to flush the area with alot of hot water and deep extract to complete. Alot of urine stains, much like coffee stains will leach back up when dry. To get the smell out is fairly easy, any good carpet cleaner will have spme chems called molecular modifiers, they will apply it rinse it then apply either a neutral scent or a "deep" water based scent.

Good Luck,

Joe

I agree with Ron, tile it and give them a throw rug to tear up.:thank_you2:

I removed the Carpet in the bedrooms, my wife didnt want it when I built the house. I wanted the carpet in the bedrooms, bad idea....I was wrong. Tile if you have pets is the way to go.

No mess, no hair problems, cleaner Air....

I would say hire a professional or get rid of the carpet and replace it with a hard flooring. Your not going to be able to clean it correctly with a store bought machine. Here is a recipe for a homemade carpet spotter if you are interested.

Homemade carpet spotter: Pour out the Resolve (this stuff is the worst thing for carpets) or any spray bottle and clean bottle out thoroughly. Fill the bottle with 3/4 cup of baking soda, (1) drop of Dawn dishwashing detergent, and 1/4 cup of hydrogen peroxide...then fill the rest with the hottest water possible. Shake it up and you have a great home spotter. Remember to blot. Some light agitation is ok. Scrubbing can ruin carpet fibers! Remember to always test for color fastness.
