Bypass Line

I have an AR4G37 pump. There is a small hose that is about 6 inches long, it runs from the water inlet line to the side of the pump head. Which would I run to my water tank as a bypass and which would I plug up? It is a direct drive pump, so I don't know if that makes a difference.

The one that comes off the pump side needs to run to the tank. Where it goes into the supply line is the return and that needs to be plugged. Make sure everything seals as you do not want any air getting sucked in the plug spot.
