Burner HELP!!!!

The air fuel mixture is set too rich. If it occured all of the suddn=en, you need to un some soot remover through it to clean out the coils.

Your coil might be bad. dont keep running it until you fix that problem or you will have to take it all apart to remove the build up of the burnt diesel inside the coil system.

Sounds to me like it's clogged with soot. You'll have to remove the burner head and pressure wash the coil to get it cleaned out. I think it's probably too late for soot remover.
We used to...
sell Tuff and quite often the insulation around the burner end would fall down in front of the fuel nozzle.
Take the 3 bolts out of the burner (without disconnecting anything else) and slide the burner out. Have someone hold the burner and take a flashlight and shine into the combustion chamber.

Kris, Did you get everything running again?
If you pull the burner head off be careful with the wires and the nozzle.
If the insulation has fallen down, push it back in place. Mostly it is friction fitted in place and driving or towing around can cause it to fall loose. If you pressure wash it out it is going to make a mess. Soot everywhere. Just clean up the mess.
Check the burner air defuser on the end and clean it with a wire brush. Be gentle not to move the electrodes out of place. A rule of thumb for the tip adjustment is 1/8" apart and 1/8" above the end of the fuel nozzle. But check with the manufacturer for exact specs. If it is close dont mess with it.
The fuel nozzle has a screen in it , but if you are runnng a fuel filter there is no need to check it. There are 3 filters in the system. The fuel pattern should be okay.
Now when you reassemble and fire back up there could be some smoke . There is going to be some raw fuel in the burner and this will cause some smoke until it is all consumed. Then it should clear up and burn smokeless.
This all might sound complicated but it is rather easy. You didnt say how may hrs are on this machine. Good preventive maintenance pays in the long run.

There are a lot of different ways to do the same thing. Basically you have to get it clean. There is definitely an air flow problem. The way to get it cleanest is by pressure washing it. You might have one of those lying around...

FWIW, I had to replace a coil on saturday. I ended up taking a coild from an old tuff that I had and put it on an elite. Screwy, but I had a job to do on Friday, andthe rest of the Tuff was toast. Surprisingly, they had basically the same coil.
