For those that do building washes,

Here are a few pics off the net for an example:

What precautions do you take while washing around different types of signs? Do you wash any different between open neon and enclosed fluoresent? Also is there anything in your contract to cover you against your customers lighting?

Most of the signs on the exterior of buildings should be able to handle a wash. I've never had a problem with signs on buildings.

I had one go out on me while cleaning at night and scare me to death. All I could see were the negative dollar signs! The next day I went back and it was working. I now have all of my customers shut the neons off if I am going to clean around them and write in the contract they have to stay off for at least 12 hours after cleaning. I use a very soft wash around neons!

We also have them turn off the neons. We did a Subway and they where exposed but they cam back on when they dried.
