Brand of airless sprayer or HVLP

I've got a small airless (spray tech 1920) I use with different tips. I've also used a capspray 9100 (over kill for stain but needed if for other things) just dialed down to spray little stuff (spindles etc etc) I'm sure you could get by with much smaller airless for spraying as well as a two stage HVLP for just doing stain. Lots of guys will tell you different methods that works for them, hard to pick sometimes what might work for you.

I have a Titan 440i. It's a great airless. I don't use it for oil based stains though unless i'm doing a fence. Don't like the prep work that comes with it.

Air Assisted Airless

This is a great machine for doing some fine finishes. I have been around this type all my life, so I may be a bit biased. I would like to tell you it is the best out there and the easiest to work with, but all that comes with variables which are mainly the experience of the handler of the rig.

This is what I endorse because the one I use has a range of 300-600 psi and is capable of half a 1 GPM. Remember coatings are not like water where the more GPM the better. If you can not brush fast enough to handle the larger GPM stay away. This is why I recommend this unit to all on this board.

If you like the HVLP be aware that sometimes depending on the ability to atomize the coating being sprayed you have to open the pressure all the way up thus causing more to overspray and this defeats the idea behind the HVLP.

If you still want to try a hvlp then check out the accuspray versamax. Do not ever use the quart. I always opted for the 2 gallon pot when I used a HVLP
