Bird poop

I have a customer who is interested in getting some bird poop removed from her wood siding. Up to this point, I have not had to deal with bird poop. Have I been lucky, or is it generally not an issue?

Either way, I did a search on the forum and all I found was threads pertaining to awning cleanings. Would a standard house wash mix remove the bird poop? If not, what should I use? Is this something I should pass on, or is this a job that can be done.

I advised her that the poop may leave a stain through the paint, but she just wants it removed. Attached are a couple of pictures although my camera appears to be on its last legs and the pictures did not come out well.

Might take a little brushing also.

If you have an adjustable wand, turn your pressure down and get up on them and "flush" the stains out. Try a couple areas first to make sure the paint/finish can handle it. Good job on telling her there may be some residual stains left. I certainly wouldn't pass on it as long as you have helped the customer with their expectations which seems you have done.

CYA......put the proposal in writing and let them know that there will probably be permanent stains in the paint that will not come out due to length of time on the surface, even with brushing, there are times when the stain will not come out 100% all the time, even with foaming, soaking, misting, etc..... that I have tried.

Then once it is in writing and you explain to them again, I would use your house wash and brush and soak and brush again and be done with it after rinsing.

A respirator is always a good idea, especially since there are like 120 or 160 known diseases to be in pigeon poop so always be careful.

Good luck.

Sh /will dissolve and remove anything that is organic. Bird poop is organic. Regular hour wash mix will work. We get rid of bird droppings all the time. They pretty much just melt away and rinse clean.

Ron, I have been meaning to get some snot but I am going to wait till I am low on my green wash. I am sure it would have helped.

I was able to get a bunch of the poop off, but not all. Even with mulitple applications of my house wash mix, there were stains present. I increased pressure but unfortunately some of the paint and wood was in bad condition so I had to back it off. Either way, the customer was happy with what I was able to remove.

There is a product that Pet Smart sells called Natures Miracle. It is designed to remove animal stains from carpet etc. It is an enzyme, so it takes a little while to work. I've used it on similar stains but not bird droppings. It may work in this instance.

Oh man... that's so nasty!

I just did one with condoms, needles and poop behind a compactor. Yuck.
