Bid Comparison

I'm still pretty new at bidding jobs and working on a bid for the job below. Would some of you here that do residential work, post a rough bid so I can see how close I am with mine. Please, if you would, indicate the rates you use for your bid, if you use different rates for the flatwork vs the house/garage wash.

* Brick House (peir & beam) single story with 2 tall gables(brick), vinyl sofits, mostly light dust and mildew - aprox. 57ft X 37ft with 9ft walls. Gables(2) aprox 17ft at the base and 9 ft high.

* Porch & Steps (concrete) heavy mildew - 213 sq ft

* Driveway - single car, two track(grass center) - 444 sq ft

* Parking pad - mostly dirt and mildew - 450 sq ft

* Detached garage - lap wood(painted) siding, vinyl sofits, light dust and mildew - 1056 sq ft

This should be interesting, When I total mine up it looks kinda high.

Thanks in advance,

Hi Roger,

Check out the links area. The PWI Links. This has some links to price guides.

Hope it helps.

Thanks for the quick reply Schaeffer

I had found those price guides earlier and that's the ones I have been using.....but for some reason this bid seemed high. When I figured the price for the house I basiclly split the difference in rates for 1 story vs 2 story, because of the P&B foundation(almost 3 ft off the ground), the 9ft walls and the height of the the bricked gables. Guess that added more to the bid than I realized. I'll submit it as is and let the customer decide.

I look at it in the same way as if buying or selling anything else.

It is easier to come down on a bid (have an alternative or good excuse for doing so) than it is to go up on a bid (a basic no-no).;)

Too much thinking

It would be easier to figure out how long it would take and times that by what you need to make.
