Best Home Show Idea I Have seen in Years

Puppy at home show a hit!
When you go to home shows it seems that everyone gives away a prize to win a cordless drill or some type of tool, etc. Then they put their name in a bowl and you use the names for a mailing of your services.
Well, I'm the guy who likes to think out of the box a bit, and what can I offer to be different than rest of vendors at the show. It seems everyone kinda gives away the same type of gifts.

Here is something I wanted to do for a long time at a Home Show, but just never had the guts to do so and I found out I was missing out big Time.

thanks guys,

I have been doing this for years and thought I share it with you all, a few months back.
Its also a big hassle if you don't plan it out. I have done about 5 puppy give aways and can give some solid advice when working the show.
1st thing you need a handler for the puppy. Up most smartest thing I did wash to hire a handler. Its just not giving away a $300 to $500 puppy there is much more expense to do the right thing to get exposure for you business.

interesting...but I would go with something everyone would want or could use. How many people actually would want a puppy, yeah they are cute, but it is a major undertaking. I would think an Ipad or a laptop or a $500 Gift Certificate would be better.

I couldn't raffle a pup off to an unknown winner. Lots of people want a puppy but a lot don't know or want the responsibility that comes with dog ownership. The pounds are full of adoptable dogs dropped off by people that wanted a cute puppy.

Just my take.

I agree guys, but its how you give the donation away and market it. You are trying to market your company and sell, not worrying about what people like for a gift.
I know a puppy does not sit well with a older single lady to win that's not the strategy here. A ipad is not a good gift for everyone but it's more practical than a puppy. The only people that enter the drawing for the puppy are the one's who can care for it. If they don't wish to win a puppy at least the puppy was paraded around and a ton of P.A. annocuments were made and several people at your both making you Center Of Attention the entire show.
Its never failed for attention at a show and that is what you want at any trade show if you are a vendor.

Mike, its not about wanting the puupy. People ...Lots of people just like cute puppies, plus they visit his booth.

Anything you can get to have people visit your booth is fun.

Daryl uses a virtual golf machine, its a great sales tool. He sets up each person with longest drive contest, people that dont even play golf take a crack at it.

Women always stop and see the puppy, reguardless if they need it or not. Its a stress releaver...

Yes! Exactly. Anything to get them there. It's a great ice breaker also. People come up, love on the puppy a bit, you walk up to them and the conversation starts!

That's it! Its a draw to a booth to increase the flow and contacts.
But the last show I did I bought a bichon frise shitzu miniature to give away. (usually I do a lab puppy) sent pictures home to my girls of the little puppy and I became the winner of that drawing. Ended up taken the little guy home to my kids.

So becareful the gift you give away at show's, the gift you give away may come home with you.

How about letting the local SPCA bring out a pup. Give $250 to the raffle winner
& $250 to the SPCA. People will come look and you get a $250 tax write off.
Plus I would think that shows your pet friendly witch would indicate a
care for the home owners pets and enviroment.
