Fairway View, a popular restaurant off of College Drive, sustained a great deal of damage in an early morning fire on Father's Day.
A popular Baton Rouge dining destination burned to the ground yesterday, bringing to an end a more than 30-year history of providing great food to a devoted customer base.
The Fairway Bar and Grill, which was located at the rear of the Fairway View apartment complex off College Drive, was completely destroyed by fire just before 5 a.m. Sunday morning. While no one was hurt in the blaze, damage to the establishment totaled around $300,000.
With the end of this historic eatery, many loyal customers must now look elsewhere for fine dining.
"They did have good hamburgers, good fish, good fried chicken," said Ben Alford, longtime Fairway customer. "We're gonna miss it."
While some customers see this as the end of the restaurant, many are hopeful that the bar and grill will rebuild.
"I am sure they will," said Fairway customer Randy Pipes. "They do a lot of business."
Investigators say the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
