My 12 year old girl Veronica plays boys baseball… she's pretty tough!!!!!

She drove one deep tonight… right center for a stand up double.

The reason I’m telling you this story is the boys where really giving her a hard time. This one kid especially every time she was going up to bat. Anyway tonight a couple of the others after she hit the ball told the others to shut up and when they hit the ball that hard they could maybe say something. The kid that was harassing her struck out twice and grounded out. Veronica (Ronnie) for short went 2 for 3 with a double and a single. I'm such a proud Dad. She played second tonight but usually plays first.

Just and update, my 8-year-old is doing OK (he needs more motivation) and my 13-year-old is doing well as usual.

That's cool Ron! I learned long ago that the biggest bad mouths were ones that never played the game, or weren't very good. They grow up to be big mouthed, negative sports fans.

I visited my son this weekend in Chicago. Went to see my first Cubs game (the Reds, our favorite beat them). Was really cool, but same thing - negative fans. My son mentioned to me that he learned that my observation about crappy sports fans was true.

Ron, he was a stud ball player, got drafted and did great for a year in Red Sox minor leagues, then decided he wanted to get on with his life. What is the point - enjoy your kids and their friends while you can, they grow up fast and move on!

BACEBALL !!!!!!!!!

we are playing our first game tonight !!

It's great being a big part of my sons game im the new manager .........

but what really gets me is the lack of help from parents >>>

no-body wants to help I even have one parent sit in his car the whole time we have pratice >>>> freakin bumm !!!

most parents just drop off there kids and come back when it's over .............

I cant understand 'em dont they know that it wont be long untill they are all grown up and outa the house???????

I've been pretty lucky, at the begining of teh season i have a maditory parent ball player meeting telling the parents what i expect from them. i have only had one kid quit because the parents didnt like my attitude.

that first meeting with parents is a good one, try it danno.. that guy in the car does care, hes there.. sometimes parents think by helping you they are in the way, you need to make them feel comfortable.. i know until the coach ask or invites i stay out of there way. thats my opinion..

All I can say is I'm dugout dad(or cage boss, as I call it) and I have a great time and my son appreciates it also!

Ron,
He's 9, its his first year in kid pitch, it takes some getting used to going from pitching machine to live pitch's, but he's got a good cut, he's also pitched a couple of innings and didnt do too shabby, he only hit 2 batters...lol.

Ron,
just tell him like I tell my son, envision the ball on the end of the bat, watch it all the way in, start the swing slightly early and swing level and when he hears ball on metal run like the dickens, and he'll probably tell you "thats easy for you to say, Dad". lol
Seriously though the hardest thing for me to get my son to do last year was not watch the ball once he hit it, he would probably lose 4 or 5 steps watching the ball and as a result got thrown out at first at least 10 times. Anyway good luck and I hope he gets that hit.

You guys have it made >>>>

The kids I have are 14> to > 16
9 of them have thier licence to drive (parents never come) sometimes the kids dont even come.

lastnight I had only 6 players at practice

most of them play J.V or varsity @ the high school and cant even come to practice .

It has been a challenge .

we do have a good team when we have al the players .
And Im always the only adult . I have asked everybody I know and it's the same ole excuse >>>>>>>>>>>> NO <<

even the parent that sits in his car all night >> says well let m think about it ..... duh !!!!!!! what is there to think about I asked him ???????

o-well I having a great time and so are the kids >>>>>>>>>>
