Auto Zone or O'Rileys

Is anyone cleaning either AutoZone or O'Rileys? If so how did you go about getting them to do it? I had cold called some earlier in the week and was told that corp. wont let them clean because their customers cars leak oil on the lot daily so they have no need for the service. To me they would be a great reason to have the lot cleaned. Wont keep tracking it into the store. Just some insight on this matter would be great.

Thanks in advance for all the replies,
Bryan

We have the ok to clean our local AutoZone. I know the store manager really good. In my area you have to go ask the manager at each store and see if they are interested and they go to the District Manager to see if they can have the funds to do it. Right now AutoZone is on the 4th Quarter of the year and holding all funds for stuff like this until there 1st quarter starts. Thats when we are cleaning. I keep in touch with the manager and the District Manager with my local AutoZone. The District Manager is waiting to see the results after we clean to decide on the other store. And the manager knows all the District Managers really well and they are all waiting to see the results. Each District in my area has about 12 stores and there are about 5 Districts. Now is the time to head out to the AutoZone and try to clean them. The manager at my local AutoZone told me AutoZone sent out a email to all the store say how amazing they are doing right now. They are doing better then they have ever done.

I cleaned one store here that is only about a year old and it was for a commercial that they are were about to do.

I talked to the managers here and they have no money in the budget but he had it cleaned anyway for the commercial.

Most of the auto zones here are asphalt parking lots and they don't have the money for maintenance, I wish they did.

Why aren't you guys trying to sell them on the sidewalk and front of building? No they aren't going to pay for the whole lot,but at $125ish for the items I mentioned above most DM's will try to squeeze the money out to have it done.
With parts houses popping up on every corner they want to have their place stand out.

I offered to do it for $100.00 each quarter and they said that they did not have a budget and could not pay out of petty cash. I did ask them to ask the DM to look into it and left cards.

I asked the managers of 2 of the locations if they had a budget for cleaning the sidewalks (those 2 stores had asphalt parkinglots) and he told me no. I asked him if he could pay with petty cash and he told me no. I went to the other store, same questions, same answers.

Either they were lying to me or they had not budgeted money for cleaning.

This was 2-3 months ago and the reason for cleaning the new store was for a commercial to be done there, the Auto Zone stores had done 8% profit above last year so they all were happy, they were expecting a huge loss due to the hyped bad economy.

I bet in a bad economy these kind of business do a lot better, since most people arent buying new cars, we just have to hold on to the ones we have and have them properly repaired to keep them running, there is also a tire shop around here that has been doing very well this year on sales since their main business is with used tires,
Some places do a lot better in a bad economy

They won't clean them to save their life here. What Ron said sounds correct - corporate inspection is when they would ever clean them.

Bryan I have been to the Advanced Auto parts here on several different occasions.....manager even agrees his place needs cleaning,,,,,,can not get him to budge..
I am suprised no one has slipped and broken an ass bone in his parking lot, much less inside the store after walking through his parking lot!
