Australian Gun Law Update

Here's a thought to warm some of your hearts

From: Ed Chenel, A police officer
in Australia

Hi Yanks, I thought you all would like to see the now available data from Down Under. It has now been one year (12 months) since gun owners in Australia were forced by a new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by our own government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million dollars.

The first year results are now available:

Australia-wide, homicides are up 6.2 percent;

Australia-wide, assaults are up 9.6 percent;

Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent);

In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent as compared with the last one year period when private ownership of a firearm was legal.

(NB: the law-abiding citizens did turn in their personal firearms, the criminal element did not and thus criminals in Australia still possess their guns.)

While data for the 25 years preceding the confiscation of privately owned guns showed a steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months as criminals now are assured their victims will be unarmed.

There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the elderly, while the resident is at home.

Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort and expense was expended in 'successfully ridding Australian society of guns.'

This story of well intentioned government intervention in the rights of lawful individuals to own and possess firearms won't be seen in the mainstream US media or on the American evening news. If President Obama advocates a similar confiscation in the US , there will not be any reporting any of this to you.

But, the Australian experience speaks for itself. Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws affect only the law-abiding citizens.

Americans may want to take note before it's too late!

DON'T BE A MEMBER OF THE SILENT MAJORITY .

BE A PARTICIPANT IN THE VOCAL MINORITY WHO DOESN'T WANT TO SEE WHAT HAPPENED IN AUSTRALIA HAPPEN IN THE US !

That will never happen here!! There are to many people who wont give up there guns..The NRA is alot stronger than you may think!!

control

That was said when Clinton signed the magazine act and the police killer bill and so many more - don't become complacent call your rep and senator and let them know how you feel and hope they listen.

Never say NEVER, look at how they are trying to shut down Talk Radio they don't want us to be heard but to BE THEIR HEARD, like Sheep. Trust Me we are seeing crap happening before our eyes. Now they are trying to redo the Census and make sure they never get voted out of office.

I agree with Nick, the NRA is very strong even though Charlton Heston is gone. Plus it is the 2nd Amendment right. That would be hard to overturn. Plus if they try to take my guns they are going to have to pry them from my COLD DEAD HANDS !!!!! I believe that the Govt. should institute a new open carry law. I would foresee the crime rate dropping significantly. But that would be just has hard, if not harder to pass than taking our guns away from us. Just my 2

Like I said before Never Say Never, the First Amendment is a Right too and they are going for the Fairness Doctrine so whats that tell you? and a bill in HR right now, better watch out.

The NRA has not stopped all guns laws have they? if they did I would not be worried but they have not stopped them, so be very wary and don't let your guard down or it will be to late.

The 21st Amendment repealed the 18th so it can happen. I'm not comparing alcohol to firearms but obviously there is a way it could be done. That would take way too much effort since it needs a 2/3 vote of both houses.

The way they are going to approach it is by very restrictive unconstitutional laws. How can they pass unconstitutional laws? Who hears challenges to laws? Our US Supreme Court. In a couple of years it will be loaded with leftist judges that will "legislate from the bench". Lawful gun owners are in for trouble. Criminals will be the only ones that benefit from it.
