asphalt roof cleaning, light brown spots

I cleaned a white asphalt roof today. I came in with a hot mix on the applesause 2/1. Pumping it with a sureflow. It worked great but notice some brown spots were coming up afterwards. So I put down another light coat. Same thing look good. But notice light brown was coming up on the roof. When I was about to leave.
I did not rise it off. I have seen it before, but I rise it off it the past. I have heard some of you let the rain do the rise.
Dose this sound right?

If it is just light brown i let the rain take care of it most the time. It usually takes a nice hard rain fall.

to me thats part of doing a white roof. I always rinse my white roofs otherwise they look like crap until it rains. I think it is probably some dead growth left behind waiting to wash off or it could be the yellow color of your mix, mixed with some dirt to make it brown.

Curtis is right. Most likely it is just dead algae that will wash away. We have it on probably 80% of our roofs when we're done. It sows up best on white/light gray and blue roofs.

my bad , when you said spots I came to the conclusion they were small round spots, if you dont rinse sometimes you do get the brown dead algae look on a roof, I usually dont rinse but on those occations I do a light rinse

I went back today and rinse it off. When I took a real close look the shingles had old dead leafs and acorns in the tabs. But it looks alot better. Whats funny I told the customer I was going to rinse his roof. He said just let the rain rinse it off it looks fine. But I couldn't leave it looking light brown, that would just bug the crap out of me. From now on I am going to rinse it off, asphlt roofs.

I have been preaching rinse roofs for years and was chastized for it. What ever makes it look better. I would think if you took your car to get it washed and they said OH WAIT FOR THE NEXT RAIN, To make it look better I know I would look at them like they were crazy and NEVER COME BACK.

We never leave without rinsing. Most of the HO want to see results before you leave and plus it helps dilute the sauce. Rinse Rinse Rinse
