Yes, good point Guy. I figured that one out years ago. Make the customer WANT to buy and you don't have to SELL. People don't like being SOLD, but they love BUYING.

I always have a cig lit and chew in my lip as I cut across the front yard!!!! How else would you do it??

This is an excellent article, So true. I personally go door to door on my spare time as a Jehovah Witness. I have found that It is best to remove your sunglasses so the resident can look you in the eyes. and the part about not walking in the grass is true too. Some people will have a yard full of weeds and if you walk on them they get upset, and it doesn't hurt to to take the newspaper to the door if it is in the driveway......... My 1 cent

Great point, Josh. Personal hygiene is huge at this point because the customer is looking for any way to discredit you.

Here are some others:

Smell good! Don't over do it though.
No sunglasses
No chewing gum
Leave your phone in your car or at least put it on vibrate
Shave
Be in uniform and ready to go!

Consultative selling is best. Find what the customer needs and give it to them.

Clean cut and uniform is a must. Its too sunny here in FL too not wear sunglasses, but I pop them onto the hat as I walk up to the door.
