LEHIGH VALLEY, Pa. (September 7, 2000) - Mack Trucks, Inc. has approved a new chemical cleaner that is powerful enough to remove concrete from ready mix trucks, yet gentle enough to use on the entire vehicle. Earthlite, developed by Tri-State Chemicals and tested in conjunction with Mack, is guaranteed not to void Mack's five-year - or its prior three-year - rust and corrosion warranty.
"This is the first time Mack has ever put its name and this type of endorsement behind a cleaner," said Robert Heckman, FDM ready-mix division
engineer. "Earthlite went through a year of testing and we now have a tremendous amount of confidence in the product."
Heckman added that experiments were conducted in Beaumont, Texas, for one year and not only did Earthlite consistently remove all traces of
concrete, but it also worked extremely well in cleaning the rest of the truck with no resulting damage to chrome, aluminum and glass components.
The chemical compound found in Earthlite is a USDA approved "Food Grade" phosphoric acid that has been blended with biodegradable detergents.
"This is what gives Earthlite the strength to literally float away the dirt and grime," said Heckman. "Natural bean waxes are included to aid in filling the pores of the metal and painted surfaces to help reverse the corrosion process while repelling dirt and concrete during future use."
During the testing phase, concerns over safety extended far beyond the vehicle, he added. Mack and Tri-State Chemicals formulated Earthlite so that no personal protection gear needs to be worn during use. "Earthlite also is safe for drivers and truck wash personnel," said Heckman. "On top of that, it helps preserve the environment by offering an effective alternative to harsh chemicals."
Earthlite will be available through all Mack dealer locations in both the U.S. and Canada by the end of the year.
