Its Come to My attention Some here think Commercial Cleaners in sidewalk cleaning Apply chemicals Different.

I use a Sprayer to control and not get People or Employees Hurt.

We Work in Public a bunch and spraying or down streaming massive amounts to me is just a great Liability and not needed.

Mainly Talking about Dangerous ones, just be safe if you are using a DS.

Been down streaming sidewalks for 20 yrs, I never had a problem?

I dont use chemicals.....I Use Detergents............

Arizona is one thing, but damp, mossy Oregon is entirely another. Up here we only clean sidewalks with all natural Lemon Aid.

If your using Chemicals that are safe Of course DS is ok.

I just don't want guys thinking we are all Using HF HCL and other Dangerous Chems through down Streamer.

KEC down Stream Caustics, I do not allow My employees to down stream anything but light Mixes through DS on Vertical Surface only. There's not reason for me to DS a Dumpster Pad with any chemicals

I had a situation the other week that was terrible.I was ds a mix of sh up on a storefront had the area what i thought was secure extra guy there telling this lady not to walk under the water.Told her 3 different times i lookaround and she walked right under the faliing water as it came of the building.I thought what a d a and kept washing she came back out of the place she was working yelling about her spotted shirt.Ibought her a outfit and went on $60 bucks for that,Ron what methods do you use that would help in the furture that stuff happening. Thanks

People will walk through puddles, walk over/around safety cones, climb over wooden street barricades just to get where they want to be and not care about what is going on.

It is a different society we live in.

I think one of the best solutions is the yellow barricade tape at waist high more or less blocking entrance. This way they cannot say anything about not hearing anyone tell them not to enter, did not see cones or most other excuses as they will have to go under or over the tape.

That is always a difficult situation where people can get where you are working and you are trying to keep them out. Very late at nite or early in the morning is a good time but even then, the drunks come out of nowhere and want to be where the work is happening.

Jobs will dictate my application methods more than anything. I always try to avoid any contact with people where possible and will at times post a person to prevent them from coming through the blockades I set up. Ideally I try and do the work when they are not around.

Totally agree Paul, same here. If it's a high traffic (People) area we don't take any chances....Night Work.

Great advise Chris, we carry several rolls of barricade tape on the truck and take several pictures of safety measures before we start the job. Accidents do happen but there are people out there that make a living off the "Ole Slip & Fall".

CYA, not taking the time or not having safety systems in place could cost you your business or worse.

I am pretty sure that no one works in traffic as much as my company does. I have found the people that are most likely to cop an attitude are drunks or those that think they are successful. Typically, we use some magic words to get people to move, depending on the situation. It works 99 times out of 100. With drunks, the words are police and jail. With the ego driven people they are urine and poop.

Great words Scott, thanks for mentioning those, those will be used in the future.

You should mention the words "throw and IN" so they are certain what's going on.

LOL Scott! That's a great idea. I think we will make a sign that says "Caution: Feces Removal Ahead" and see how that works.

I wonder what it would cost to have a barricade tape company to make some rolls of the yellow caution tape that says Feces and Urine Disposal or Feces and Urine Cleaning or Feces and Urine Decontamination Area or something similar to get attention and keep people out of the work area.

OR

Poo Zone Keep out

or

Doo Doo Disposal Site

or

Doo Doo Cleaning

or other things
