thanks for the info!

Apple roof an Russ

Simple cherry has some other things in it. Is possible to just go with the stpp?
or would the other things in simple cherry be needed to fight mildew an/or algae ? Also would dwell time need to be increased when using stpp

I made my first batch of applesauce this week-end - small batch . I tested in a 4 gallon hand pump sprayer. It worked very well - I was very surprised. I did not have any borax so I used sodium percarbonate. The mix foamed up a bit but then quickly settled down. Question - how long do you leave it on before you rinse? Also - I am having trouble finding 12.5% chlorine - my pool store only carried 10%. I just used less water - it worked.

Do not mix sodium percarbonate and bleach together!

That foaming you saw is a chemical reaction. They do not go together. The foaming is the two chemicals fighting each other releasing chlorine gas from the bleach and oxygen from the sodium percarbonate. You could blow your self up and/or blow a hole in the roof, if your pump sprayer does not have a pressure relief valve.

Here's a link I got from Chris Tucker. Some guy mixed acid and bleach together in his pump sprayer, an even worse combination.

thank you for the tip - I thought it would be about the same as borax?? Anyway I appreciate the help. Can you tell me how long I should leave the "applesauce" on before I rinse?

Sodium borate works with bleach but not Sodium perborate. The "per" in oxygenated chemicals do not mix well with bleach.

Rinsing may not be necessary. That's what rain is for. Every roof is different. Depends on how nasty it is. Just eyeball it. Add more bleach/ TSP for really nasty ones.

thanks again...no rinsing really? I have been practicing on my roof, my rental properties, etc before I am ready to address the public. Do you have an exact procedure? I thought you had to rinse with a large amount of fresh water. There is soooo much conflicting info on the net. I really appreciate you time and expertise! Jay

have you tried it Chris ? I did and didnt see much if any difference in it compared to mix with none
Actually we did try what sample Bob sent us.
Unfortunately, roofs we did were not very dirty.
It broke right down, and smelled good.
As far as cleaning better goes, I don't know.

Mike I think someone is yanking your chain, retail stores don't have it but try a chemical supply house.

Domn't know where you are on the island but these guys are in Deer Park.
