I was keeping my cool and I was finally starting to get tired of this lady's B.S. and told her that "Numbers can be Manipulated" and that they can pull any number out of their hat but if people do not know to look in "yellowpages.com" then I am wasting my money being there, kind of like all those internet directory scams. She did not like hearing that.
I kept going back to the point of Eveyone that has a computer knows about MSN.com, Yahoo and Google so if they are looking for a company, service or product they will find it there and they can be found nationwide or do a search by state or city.
She was telling me that Yellowpages.com is the #1 online directory in the world and I told her that that is nice BUT...... if people do not know about her directory OR....... have it memorized, saved on their favorites, or finally start seeing good marketing done by yellowpages.com then they will not remember that directory to use it in the future.
She then told me that Yellowpages.com is the #26 website on the planet because of traffic. I told her that those numbers can be manipulated and that traffic can be manipulated to go there also but there is no guarantee that people will call you and there is no way that they can guarantee traffic to your website from their website.
She actually told me that the i-phone has the yellowpages.com feature on the phone so you can access the online directory because Apple is so impressed with the online directory because they are #1, they are the #26 website on the planet and some other B.S. that I do not remember right now.
I told her that anyone with a check and agreement can do the same thing like Google, Yahoo or MSN.com. I told her that money talks and gets things done. I mentioned that i-Phone did not add that feature for free or out of the kindness of their heart or because they are so impressed. It is because they are getting paid to add it, not out of generosity.
Who knows, maybe AT&T owns a large share of Apple.
I told her that no matter what numbers she pulls out of her hat, I am not impressed and anyone that knows hardly anything about computers will probably not know about yellowpages.com but almost everyone that buys a computer will know about Yahoo, Google or MSN or have pre-loaded icons like Internet Explorer or MSN that have search features so there is no need for yellowpages.com. hahaha
I guess that she is used to uneducated customers that fall for her B.S. and after several times telling her the same thing she finally left. hahaha
I finally got most of the ads discussed and will have to go back in Jan but I was just wondering if anyone here actually used their online directory and if you had got any calls or hits.
I kind of figured you guys would say what you said. It is better to make sure that your own website is optimized for search engines and has great information to help educate the customers.
