Anyone care to take a stab at this specification

Government bid specs state the following:

Contractor shall provide safe, non-slip, fire resistant coverings to protect the interior finishes, ceiling finishes, and exterior roof, wall and equipment surfaces from damage, staining or deterioration during the service cleaning process.

We currently use plastic sheeting but it is flamable and slippery when wet.

I thought about a waterproof and fire retardant canvas but its not even practical for hood cleaning.

The person that wrote that probably copied that phrase from somewhere and has no clue what is means.
I would just clarify it with the subcontract administrator.

I have seen government bids still asking us to blow powder. They have corrected this when I have brought it to their attention.

You are probally right but if anyone thinks of anything else I would like to hear about it.

They paint the stipulations with a broad brush in order to cover all bases. Doesn't work. It is a unilateral, adhesive agreement that is very easy to defeat. Michael said it well - notify the maker of contract and let them make the correction(s).

Yeah that's probally the case. It's the only thing that makes sense.

You know I actualy spent some time today looking for a material that meets the spec. It was a fun journey but I should have started here at PWI.

Thank you all for your insight.

Ever thought about how crazy blasting grease will make you.
