Another first

I might have to winterize my pressure washers. Just some windshield fluid in the float tank and let it run. Question is, how much fluid? It is actually supposed to be in the low 20's tomorrow night.

Scott if you are serious I would install a blow out valve on the low pressure side of the pump and blow the pump, coil and lines out all at the same time

Place on inlet side of pump, Use air pressure to blow the water out of the system to prevent freezing 1/8' 'mpt. Install on low pressure side only.

We run windshield washer fluid through the machines, and use a schrader valve to blow out hoses and reels. It takes roughly 3 gal of washer fluid to winterize each pump and burner coils. I have considered installing the schrader valves on the inlet of the pumps as Russ said, but I'm always concerned that all the water won't be blown out of the pump. Even after the hoses are blown out each night, there is often a small amount of ice in them the next morning.

We use 6gal windshield washer fluid per trailer. That is two belt drives and one burner each. Then blow out the supply and pressure lines. The schrader valve makes sense for you but I'm with Chris I don't trust them under extreme extended freezing up here.

There is no such thing as extreme, extended freezing up in my world. I am sad if I have to wear sweatshirt two days in a row, and we never turn the heater on. I will probably throw a tarp with a halogen light on the trailer at my house, and use fluid in the machines at my yard. I probably won't worry about the feed lines. It is only supposed to be down to 29 now. That is an unusually cold night for us.

Thats all you need Scott since you won't be dealing with a serious cold front. Just keep the Tarp Taught so it doesn't catch fire from the Halogen light. I done that for year in my Enclosed Trailer where I kept a Halogen light on inside of it where it kept it warm enough that nothing froze.

You'll never see this in Arizona but here is my truck that we used to do some commercial accounts that require some long distant driving. Everything is winterized with Anti-Freeze and we need this truck next week. My Homer Simpson moment for the first time in all my yrs I forgot to cover my equipment. Just another Senior moment with 50 around the corner.

For us, this is a serious cold front.
I saw the news with New York. It sounds like you guys got hit really hard, and that the city is in turmoil because of it. Nutty weather all around.

I was talking to Ron on my way to have mybelly button piercing checked and I saw another first. Snow in daylight. I have never.seen that in the Phoenix area. Snow at night, maybe once every 5 years, but snow during the day, insane.

Not the same as cold to you. 45 with 20 mph winds

We put on 4 layers of clothes here once it gets below 50.

Everywhere there was water standing this morning at 1:30 AM it was all ice.

Something got too cold for my unit last night. The burner had a hard time lighting up. After about 2 or 3 minutes it finally did and it was ok.

Maybe I should winterize my unit for tonight also. Anyone have a "how to" video they can post?

Scott,
I would not worry. put a a tarp over it.
If the air hits 29 that does not mean that all the lines on your machine will freeze. It takes a while for your stuff to bust - 45 down to 29 for about 4 hours is not going to bust your stuff up.

To be safe it takes about 2 Gallons of fluid to treat a typical skid unit.
