Was very important from the start, you need it, if not to show others how serious you are, then to keep yourself focused on your goals.
p.s. blew the hell out of estimating startup costs. just gotta keep re-vamping it.

Hard to follow a business plan when out side situations beyond your control end up controlling your schedule. They should be reviewed and revised as soon as you realize you are deviating from it.
