Air planes

I have noticed there is no mention of pressure washing airplanes.
Are they not profitable? And if so where does one inquire about
The dos and don’ts with the handling of planes?

thanks.

The only reason I do planes, is because I have years of experience doing it in the Navy. There is a lot to look for depending on the type of plane. For your basic Cessna I charge 200. it takes about 2 hours to do. For a lear, I charge 500 and it takes about 5 hours.

thanks rob, your the man. I was washing a truck and a passer-by mentioned that threres a shortage of mobile services for planes.
I gave this little thought. I figured the insuranse must be monstrous and getting your foot in the door may take a presidential order of approval.

BIGBOY over at Dan's bbs washed a cessna [even got pics]
Said it was the easiest money he ever made.
Said he could wash them in less then 30 min.
Might want to check him out?

I know you can't wash and wax a plane in less than an hour. At least for my clients, they want them washed, waxed, and buffed. If they only wanted them sprayed down, then life would be great.

CPW:

Are you referring to washing commercial airliners, or general aviation? I wouldn't imagine it would take any type of authorization to wash general aviation other than that from the owner of the plan or possibly the facility where the planes are kept. Thanks for the idea, we have quite a few general aviation strips around here, might not hurt for me to check into the market for that here

I would suggest going to the locals and talking to some people. The thing that I have found is either they do it themselves or have someone do it. So you have a 50 50 shot. Go for it.

Hey Rob, when you are washing planes do you have a special cleaner that you use? We are looking into doing some local aircraft. I have been trying to find out what cleaners work best, I found one dealer that sells some special aviation chemicals, I know that you need special cleaners for the windows but what do you use chemicals and cold water or hot? Any help would be appreciated, thanks

Hey Matt, you may not get an answer. He hasnt been active since 24 April 2003. lol. And his website isnt working

I'm thinking a guy should check with his insurance carrier before he does much aircraft work. Reading the fine print in your policy after a problem is the wrong time. May be no issue but just to CYA.

True that thanks for the heads up, that is the only way to go, those little details always seem to cost the most... :(
