adhesive removal

A small company wants me to clean their entry walk and porch area. They had indoor/outdoor over a concrete sidewalk. The "carpet" has been removed, but there is the remaining adhesive on the concrete. Any suggestion on how to remove, or will just hot water and a surface cleaning work?

That can be a huge pain! I have seen it come right off and I have seen it impenetrable, and I have never seen it not leave marks after it is removed. I think Nigel is right and an adhesive specific product may be just the trick. I have seen the graffiti remover with multiple solvents remove a lot of things but if you find the right solvent, that will do it. It may be hot water and pressure won't do anything. I would ask around at more than one local chemical supply and please post after the job. One trick for small marks and stuff - carb cleaner , brake cleaner , starting fluid.

3M makes a real good adhesive remover that we have used for truck decal glue, works great for that.

When I moved into my house years ago, the previous owners put astroturf on the front porch, and wifey wanted it gone. I used a wet sandblaster to remove the glue residue effortlessly.

ok, let me tell you what doesn't work, Henrys adhesive removal from Home Depot:mad:. I'll post pics later today. A lot of it came off with just hot water. but their were two 4 foot strips that would not come off. So I took Tom's advice and used some Carb cleaner and then WD-40 and a scraper and brush. I first tried to go over it with hot water and work it but found the colder it got the easier it was to remove. Either way, next time I am going to double the price.:D
