A good deal?

I found a 2006 GAS F350 with a 12' flatbed, w/ 26,000 miles. It was a repo and has been sitting on the lot since october. They're asking $12k for it, I offered $8k. The guy said it is in perfect shape (like an 06 should be.). How good of a deal is this? I've been looking for a diesel, but this almost seems to good to pass up...The only catch is it is 1500 miles away, so i dont get to test it out unless I drive there, which Im considering.

Just curious as to what you guys would do??

I bet if you buy it you wont pass many gas stations (GAS HOG) lol
sounds like it might have potental. Check it out can hurt... You might get a really good Truck

1500 miles in what direction?

Assuming it's 5.4l gasser it's a strong engine.A gas hawg,but decent engine.
Common problems with the 5.4 is the COPs (coil over paks) burning up.They are a bear to replace, but it can be done for much cheaper than the $900+ the dealership will charge.
I would keep looking for a diesel if you don't have to have a truck now.

All those reasons are why im looking for a diesel. However, even if it got 10-12 mpg, Diesel is almost a dollar more per gallon, and the truck would cost about 10-12K more. Im just wondering if its worth the extra expense.

I dont HAVE to have the truck now, but I cant really grow without it. I have a small tailer now(5x7), cold water machine, and only a 125gl tank, which means im stuck at 1 or 2 jobs /day, and can not effectivly do any serious flatwork.

I also thought about just getting a larger trailer, but I have a 2006 lariat F150 super crew, 5.4 triton, 2 wheel drive. Even the small trailer pulls me around alot. Its just not made for towing. So to grow Like we are trying to, we kind of need a bigger truck and prefer a flatbed. hmmm...

And I was wrong, not 1500 miles, 884. Just a little overestimation.

haha, we must be all looking at flat beds. I wouldnt buy a diesel unless it had a cummins just because of fuel cost. I would say jump on that opportunity. Sounds like a good deal.

you can look it up on kelley blue book. you did not give enough info to book it out.

So is it in Las Cruces, New Mexico?

FWIW...Flatbed Isuzus are pretty easy to find, even in that price range, and are going to be better suited to carrying that weight anyway.

My 6.0L F250 gets high 15's pulling the trailer and 18+ without as long as I keep it under 70mph.
When I went to Alabama for the RT I got 22 mpg:D

I'd agree with the NPR type trucks, I saw one the other day '99 for $6,000 with 100,000 miles on it.
