A first for me.

I was pressure washing a house today and damaged some sofit. I use 8gpm machines. I down streamed my house wash mix using a 25 deg soap tip when I hit the sofit from about 8 ft away the paint flaked off and exposed bare shinny metal. I have never seen that before. I am waiting for the customer to return my call. I just don't know how this could happen other than poor craftsmanship.

Sounds like the paint was already flaking and you just happened to rinse it off. But, explaining that to a customer is always difficult after the fact...even before the fact...fact is, it looked painted (especially at a common distance) before you started, then looks "broken" after you finished... If it's a common color, rustolium or other outdoor paint.
Good luck to ya!

We keep spray cans in the truck for when that happens on gutters!
