96 Regs

I received this e-mail today. I though it best to again share it with everyone. Please note – It may sound perfectly clear (at least) when it comes to “Cleaning.” The real gray area is “Inspections.” I strongly recommend you narrowly define What you inspected. Saying “Inspected to NFPA 96” could (fairly or unfairly) get you burned.

The Message read...

Good morning Phil;
Hope all is well with you.
When I was in Vegas with you, you said that "cleaning to NFPA 96 standards" written on are inspections sheets needed to be changed to something else. What is the right wording?
Thanks Phil, talk to you later

Yes, you just need to be more specific. Depending on what year of Standard you want to work with, Quote the Cleaning section (either 8-3 in 1998 ed or 11.4 in the 2001). Don’t just say #96. This way you can only be hung for the things you might have done wrong to that section rather than the entire #96.
Basically I am saying that you should not make it sound like you did everything in the whole #96 -- just the cleaning.
Does that make sense?
Phil
