800 numbers

Ok, I'm getting ready to start a pretty big postcard campaign. I have 2 company numbers that I use and one of the areas that I'm gonna be doing mailers in has a different prefix...I don't want 3 numbers to worry about. Plus, one of the numbers is my cell phone and I don't necessarily want to be taking calls from these postcards on my cell phone. "Yes Mr. Owner I can...hahcilnscvsc....sorry about that my cell phone was breaking up"....that's just unprofessional.

Anyway, how do I go about obtaining an 800 number for my business? Who should I go through? What can I expect to pay? Do I need seperate lines in my house? wth?

Most carriers offer the 800 numbers. the cost varies, and you pay for all incoming calls. You can have an 800 number that rolls over to your existing number. call your service provider and get pricing and then call around.

I can't get Verizon to call me back. I held on the line for about 8 minutes (seemed like 30) and they didn't even know where to direct my call....boneheads. I was thinking of trying Vonage, does anybody else use them?

Oh yeah, Grant, who else is there to call, doesn't it have to be your local, or long distance provider?

Deregulatation!
Its a free for all with the telco's

Anthony, I have a toll free number and its free. Had it for years. It replaces my area code with 888. Very simple and didnt cost a thing. All it cost is the incoming toll charges, which are billed in 6 sec increments. I rhink I originally got it thru Westel.

I have Vonage. I have had zero problems with them and am finna get the 800 number.
If you want to try them let me know- I'll send you a link for a month free for you and one for me.
You get the free month anyway, but I'll get to scam a free month if I send you the link.

It's through my cable internet.
If you have DSL it's not a good deal since you would still have to keep your phone line for internet.

Well get cable!
:)

It's faster, anyway....
