I'm sure some of you use them, I do and the most recent set turned out to be a disappointment. Only lasted a couple months, now one of them won't turn on.

What radios do you guys use and how they working out?

I'm thinking of buying a handful of these phones from Verizon it would kill a few birds with one tool.

We quit using radios a long time ago. I've got a lot of them just sitting here next to me on the charger with dust on them. We use phones now and just leave them on speakerphone or use headsets. The radios were bulky and didn't work half the time.

I come from a fire service background but you can use the same radio on a business freq. We use vertex standard and motorola. These get used 24/7 365 and are very durable. I know vertex makes waterproof models also. Great radios. Are you using them on site or in an entire area (like dispatching a truck to a job)? Mobile radios are much better and clearer. If you need to talk around town sometimes a simplex system with mobiles will work but if it is a large area you would need a repeater.

I have three of em I use for offroading and road trips, 2 cobras and an old midland. One of the cobras crapped out, the other transmits without transmitting, and midland still works perfect.
